Trustee Shriners Hospitals for Children

Bob Smith of Post Falls, Idaho, was re-elected to serve his second three-year term on the Shriners Hospitals for Children Board of Trustees during Shriners’ 2007 annual international convention – or Imperial Council Session – held in Anaheim, Calif., July 1-5.
Smith was born in Bakersfield, California. He grew up in Casper, Wyo. He studied accounting and computer science at Coleman College in San Diego. He worked in the oil industry for more than 20 years, working his way from a laborer to vice president and board member of several privately held corporations.
Smith was raised a Master Mason at Kootenai Lodge #24 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and is a member of the Scottish Rite. He joined Calam Shriners in 1988. He served as president of the Coeur d’Alene Shrine Club and chaired numerous committees for the club and Temple. Smith served nine years on the board of governors at the Spokane Shriners Hospital. While a member of that board, he served as treasurer and vice chairman, and he was chairman for three years. He is now an emeritus member of the Spokane hospital’s board of governors. Smith is currently the Chairman of the Information Services Committee, the Medical Affairs Committee and the Telemedicine Study Committee. He also serves on the Planning Committee, Budget Committee and the Salary, Personnel and Retirement Committee. He is currently the Board of Trustee’s Hospital Liaison at the Twin cities Hospital and the Houston Hospital. He has served as the Liaison to the Lexington, Cincinnati and Salt Lake City Hospitals.
Smith and his wife, Nancy, enjoy outdoor activities, traveling and spending free time with their family, including their two sons and grandchildren.
