Meet a few of the kids at Shriners Hospitals

 Cincinnati & Lexington

Sage

Sage was 4 years old when he was transferred to the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital after bacterial meningitis and gangrene set in and almost ended his life and forced the amputation of both legs.

At Shriners, Sage received expert post-surgical care and rehabilitation. Later, Sage visited the Lexington Shriners Hospital where experts there crafted new limbs with a Spiderman motifhis favorite superhero.

Today, Sage is pedaling his bicycle and preparing for a new challenge: elementary school.

Los Angeles

Katie

Katie came to Shriners Hospital - Los Angeles as an infant. Born with a heart murmur, one kidney and a missing tibia, Katie underwent her first surgeries when she was weeks old.

When she was a year old, she received her first of many protheses. Physical therapists at Shriners helped her to walk. Her undauntable spirit led her to take on snow skiing, horseback riding, bowling and competitive golf.

Katie is now attending college on a golf scholarship. Performing since she was 9 years old, she recorded her first country music CD and plans a career in the entertainment field.
