Housing and Transportation

On-site and local lodging

We know that a parent's presence is very reassuring to a child, and we encourage one parent or guardian to stay overnight at the hospital with their child, either at the bedside or in parent housing.

Please make any overnight arrangements through our care coordination/family services office at (314) 872-7806.

Bedside

The hospital provides a reclining chair or cot, linens and shower facilities for the convenience of the parent staying. Space for staying at the child's bedside is limited, and we encourage families to check with the child's nurse regarding availability.

Parent Housing Rooms

If a parent wishes to stay overnight with their child, but not at the bedside, rooms are available in the hospital's parent housing wing.  Rooms include a telephone, single bed and a bathroom. Laundry facilities are also available at no charge.

Local Hotels

Several area hotels provide special rates for patients being treated at Shriners Hospitals. For a list, contact the care coordination/family services office.

Accommodations may also be available at HavenHouse St. Louis, about six miles from the hospital. HavenHouse partners with St. Louis area hospitals to provide housing for families who travel 25 miles or more to receive medical care for their children. Their goal is to provide the comfort of home and a community of support for families, including meals and a shuttle to and from the hospital (during weekdays). The nightly rate is $25 for one room, which can sleep up to four people. Accommodations at HavenHouse must be arranged through our care coordination/family services office.

In some cases, Shriners  nearest the patient's hometown may provide financial assistance with housing and/or transportation. Again, contact care coordination/family services at (314) 872-7806 with inquiries.

Transportation

Transportation for Shriners patients and their families from outside the St. Louis metro area is often provided by Shriner van drivers, organized by the local Shriners in or nearest your community. For more information about this service, contact your local Shriners or the care coordination/family services office (314) 872-7806 several weeks before your visit.
