Community Events and Programs
Built on the philosophy that people can make a difference in the lives of others, Shriners Hospitals for Children has long recognized the importance of including the community in its programs.
Career days, health fairs, prevention programs, and other events give groups of all ages an opportunity to interact with professionals and learn about current health care issues.
SHCNC Lecture Series: The SHCNC Lecture Series is an ongoing program for physicians, nurses, other health professionals, and the general public. Presentations are offered from Noon – 1 p.m., on the fourth Thursday of month in the first-floor auditorium of the Sacramento Shriners Hospital.
Burn Prevention: Shriners Burn Team offers prevention programs geared to children from preschool through high school. Puppets, interactive activities, and visual presentations are incorporated into the program that educates children about the risks of burn injuries and how to prevent them.
Careers in Health Care: High school and college students learn about Shriners Hospitals for Children and the many different careers available in the health care field through programs given by hospital staff. Topics covered range from intensive care nursing to facilities management and nutritional services.
