Shriners Hospitals for Children – Los Angeles utilizes a multidisciplinary team of physicians to provide comprehensive care for our patients. Our active medical staff consists of orthopaedic and plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists and pediatricians. We also have a consulting staff of physicians available to our patients from a wide variety of disciplines including: radiology, genetics, hand surgery, microsurgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, oral maxillofacial surgery, pathology, psychiatry and urology.
The hospital also an academic teaching and research institution. We partner with several major university teaching programs including: Harbor-UCLA, UCLA, USC, Cedars Sinai and White Memorial Medical Center in the fields of orthopaedic surgery, plastic surgery and family practice.

Nurses
Every nursing unit consists of nurses who perform different patient care duties:
- Nurse Manager - a registered nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the unit
- Charge Nurse - an RN who oversees all unit activities during a shift
Registered Nurse (RN) - Your child has an RN assigned to him/her at all times, and are responsible for ensuring that your child’s condition is constantly monitored and that care and teaching are provided.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - An LVN may be assigned to assist the RN with routine patient care issues.
Allied Health Care Professionals
There will be a variety of allied health care professionals who will be involved with the care of your child. Here are a few of them:
- Clinical Dietitians - licensed specialists in nutrition for children
- Radiology Technologists - specially trained hospital personnel who perform a variety of imaging and radiology tests
- Rehabilitation Therapists - occupational therapists and physical therapists perform rehabilitation services with your child
- Pharmacists - prepare all medicines that are prescribed by your Shriners Hospital physician. Prescriptions are available in our igneous pharmacy located on the first floor by the outpatient services department.
- Social Workers - provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families
