The Shriners Hospital for Children® — Houston is a 40-bed pediatric orthopaedic hospital providing comprehensive orthopaedic care to children.
The hospital, which accepts and treats children with routine and complex orthopaedic problems, is one of just a few pediatric hospitals in the United States performing microvascular orthopaedic procedures, and has also become known for its work with children with cerebral palsy.
While the Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Houston is equipped and staffed to provide carefor virtually all pediatric orthopaedic problems, with the exception of acute trauma, the hospital has developed a special expertise in the following areas:
- Brachial plexus birth palsy ( English ) ( Spanish )
- Cerebral palsy (orthopaedic and gait issues only)
- Chest wall deformities of pectus carinatum and pectus excavatum
- Cleft lip and cleft palate
- Foot disorders (congenital, developmental and acquired)
- Hand and upper limb disorders (congenital and acquired)
- Scoliosis and spinal deformities (congenital and idiopathic)
- Hip disorders (developmental and acquired)
- Genetic disorders with emphasis on skeletal dysplasias
- Limb deficiencies (including orthotics and prosthetics)
- Limb length discrepancies
- Musculoskeletal issues relating to growth and development
