Shriners Hospitals Marks 40 Years of Burn Care
May 5, 2008
Anniversary includes open house and new exhibit
Cincinnati,Ohio — More than 40 years ago, Shriners of North America, a fraternal organization that founded Shriners Hospitals for Children, established the first pediatric hospitals specializing in burn care. This decision ultimately led to great strides in medical treatment of severe burns, which has improved the lives of thousands of children. To celebrate the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital's 40th anniversary and Shriners Hospitals’ significant role in pediatric burn care, the Cincinnati hospital will host a 40th anniversary celebration Saturday, May 17, from noon to 4 p.m. Activities will include an open house and the debut of a traveling exhibit. On hand for the open house will be dozens of current and former patients of the Cincinnati hospital. The celebration also launches the exhibit, “40 years of Pediatric Burn Care,” which showcases the most significant advancements in pediatric burn care and shares stories of children who have been treated at the Cincinnati hospital. The exhibit also includes an interactive display of stages of burns and a timeline of milestones in burn care. The exhibit is located in the hospital’s main lobby and is open to the public after May 17th, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information about the event, please call (513) 872-6000. |
