Expert Pediatric Burn Care
The Shriners Hospital for Children — Boston is a 30-bed pediatric hospital providing comprehensive acute, reconstructive and rehabilitative care to children who have burn injuries. There is no charge for the medical care or services provided by the health care system. This hospital is one of 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children throughout North America.
We are equipped and staffed to treat the following:
- Acute burns
- Congenital hairy nevi
- Ear deformities
- Hand deformities
- Non-burn conditions requiring wound care including: toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, abrasion/friction injuries, purpura fulminans, epidermolysis bullosa
- Port wine stains and hemangiomas
- Reconstructive or restorative surgery as a result of “healed” burns
- Severe scarring, resulting in contractures or interfering with mobility of the limbs
- Scarring and deformity of the face
- Smoke inhalation injury
- Wound care and management
